Councilmember McDuffie Asks Residents to Testify at Auto Body Paint Spray Booth Public Hearing on January 12

On Monday, January 12, at 5:30 p.m., the District Department of the Environment (DDOE) will be holding a public hearing at 1200 First Street, NE, to hear testimony from residents regarding proposed air quality permits for two auto body paint spray booths to be located at 1736 Rhode Island Avenue, NE, and 2615 Evarts Street, NE.

Painting at spray booths generates hazardous emissions that can impact public health and air and water quality. Additionally, both proposed locations border multiple residences.

Please join the Councilmember in testifying at the hearing and opposing these permits. Residents who wish to testify must submit their names, addresses, telephone numbers, and affiliation, if any, to Stephen Ours, Chief of DDOE’s Permitting Branch, by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, at stephen.ours@dc.gov. Residents are also invited to submit written comments to Chief Ours.
