According to the 2020 census, Ward 5 saw a 20% (15,114) increase from 2010 and is now home to more than 89,000 residents. The Ward 5 redistricting task force will be responsible for examining the population growth of our Ward and submitting a report to the Council’s subcommittee on redistricting how the boundaries of our single member districts should be redrawn. The 2020 census reported that 25 of our 37 single member districts have increased in population beyond the permissible 2,000 residents plus or minus five percent. Task force meetings will be recorded and streamed live for. Residents will have any opportunity to submit written and verbal testimony to the task force for consideration.
