Councilmember Kenyan R. McDuffie issued the following statement on Councilmember Trayon White’s remarks:
“I spoke with Councilmember Trayon White earlier today about his recent remarks. I expressed to him that anti-Semitic conspiracies and deeply offensive rhetoric have no place in our public discourse, certainly not coming from our elected officials.
Councilmember White has apologized, rightly, and has been meeting with members of the Jewish community to begin a process of understanding the history of his remarks and why his words are so hurtful. I believe he is doing so in good faith and hope that he has learned from this experience.”
