Washington, D.C. – Councilmember Kenyan R. McDuffie (D – Ward 5) released the following statement today upon the release of the body worn camera footage of the officer-involved shooting of Javon Hall.
“Today, the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) released the body worn camera footage of the officer-involved shooting of Javon Hall. I extend my deepest condolences to the Hall family and all those involved.
I have been in contact with MPD and have reviewed the video and associated 911 transcripts of the incident. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia is currently conducting an investigation into Mr. Hall’s death.
As I have maintained, transparency is critical to police-community relations, and I thank the mayor for releasing the body worn camera video. I expect a thorough and swift investigation.”
