McDuffie to Host Youth-Led Non-Violence Summit #YouthSpeakDC

YouthspeakDCTomorrow, Councilmember Kenyan R. McDuffie (D-Ward 5), Chairperson of the Committee on Judiciary will host a youth-led summit facilitated by SunniAndTheCity, radio personality, WPGC 95.5 as part of the Black Women for Positive Change (BW4PC) 2015 Week of Non-Violence, October 17-25. The event will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the R.I.S.E. Demonstration Center located at 2700 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue S.E.

Please help us to spread the word. Invite one or two teens to this summit — whether it’s a member of your family, teens at your church home, or a teen within your community. We want to walk away from this event with the youth offering solutions to ‘stop the violence’ and to raise awareness and promote violence prevention. We are empowering the youth to take charge in their communities by pledging to end the senseless violence with an effort to change the culture of violence that devastates communities.

For those that will not be able to attend, join the conversation using #youthspeakDC and view the live stream. Councilmember McDuffie also announces the launch of @YouthSpeakDC on Twitter. Please follow and join the conversation.
