Councilmember McDuffie to Kick-Off Empowering Males of Color Initiative

Dear Resident,

Please join me today at the Howard University School of Social Work Auditorium at 6:00 p.m. to kick off the Empowering Males of Color (EMOC) initiative with Mayor Muriel Bowser, Councilmember David Grosso (I-At Large), Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick, Howard University President and D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) officials. The launch will recognize those who have accepted the pledge to serve as mentors to DCPS males of color through the 500 for 500: Mentoring through Literacy Program, aimed to improve Black and Latino male students reading skills while building confidence and putting them on a path to success.
