Dear Residents,
As Martin Luther King, Jr. (“MLK”) Day approaches, I am reminded of Dr. King’s legacy of service and perseverance. Dr. King’s selfless dedication to the rights of all people should serve as a reminder that we can do more to positively transform our communities.
On Monday, January 19, please honor Dr. King’s legacy by participating in a Day of Service. Every year, the District of Columbia Commission on National and Community Service and the Mayor’s Office on Volunteerism, Serve DC, provide a list of volunteer activities that are taking place across the city on MLK Day. Demonstrate your commitment to every resident’s well-being, regardless of race, age, gender, sexual orientation or socio-economic status, by joining friends and neighbors across the District of Columbia for a Day of Service event.
As a reminder, the District of Columbia Government is closed on Monday. On behalf of our office, have a wonderful weekend.
