Washington, D.C. – Today, Councilmember Kenyan R. McDuffie (D-Ward 5) released the following statement regarding the tragic incident that took place at Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (“WMATA”) L’Enfant Plaza Station.
“I contacted Mayor Muriel Bowser regarding the tragedy that took place last evening. I expect the Mayor to deliver an after-action report to the Committee on the Judiciary by Monday. Soon after I have reviewed the report, I will determine the next steps in the Committee’s review.
I offer my condolences to the family of the passenger who tragically passed away last night. My heart goes out as well to the individuals who are being treated for various injuries.”
